The M5 South-West Motorway was opened in August 1992 and a widening project began in June 2012. This project was completed in December 2014 and has since been saving road-users time in traffic.
The stretch spans 22km of Sydney’s south west from Prestons to Beverley Hills and according to authorities the addition of a lane in each direction has provided even better driving times and made travelling more reliable. It has even resulted in a safer trip, they claim.
This section of the motorway was developed by Interlink Roads and is operated by them until the end of their lease on 10 December 2026.
